Fall fashion fake-out.

Fall is my favorite season, mainly for the warm color palette and the cozy fashion. Boots with tall socks is a trend being seen everywhere this fall. Here's trick to get this look on your own without having to buy new pairs of socks, and while at the same time reducing the bulk in your boot from a heavy sock.

Take an old sweater, or purchase a cheep one from a consignment shop, cut the sleeves off of the garment. You can now wear the sleeves in a leg warmer style. Cut the sleeves just short enough to stick out the top of your boot and you will create an illusion that you are wearing a tall sock!

A crafter's best friend.

Decoupage, otherwise known as Mod Podge, is very useful for many different crafting occasions, but it is crazy expensive. You can easily make your own decoupage to save a pretty penny.

Here is what you will need:

  • Elmer's glue
  • H2O
  • Ajar of your liking
What to do:

  •  Simply empty the glue into the jar, and add water. The jar should be half water, half glue. Shake your heart out, and you have your very own homemade decoupage.

Simple as can be :]

Never to early to dream of Spring.

It might seem a little early to already be thinking about the Spring, but Pantone has released their official color report for Spring 2013! When picking colors for upcoming DIY projects keep these colors in mind since these are going to be popular this upcoming spring.

You can also check out the Spring 2013 colors here: http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr.aspx?pg=21005&ca=4

Tailgaiting in style.

Who doesn't love tailgating? It's the perfect excuse to enjoy the outside, great food and drinks, and and opportunity to show off your outfit for whichever team you may choose to support. This super easy headband is a cute touch to go with your tailgating apparel. This will take you all of one minute (I'm not kidding). All you will need is a stretchy headband, a hot glue gun and a patch depicting the logo of the team of your choice. Simply glue the patch to the head band using the hot glue gun. See, told you I wasn't exaggerating about the one minute.

You can wear this headband in whichever way you choose, personally I enjoy hippie style.

Go team :]

Font-tastic.

I have always held a great appreciation for unique fonts and elegant calligraphy. My favorite site to download fonts from is www.dafont.com, and the best part is they are absolutely free!

Some of my favorite fonts these days are:

I couldn't help but add that last one :]

Here is a great tutorial about how to create your own fake calligraphy:

Trick-or-treat, isn't my costume sweet?!

Halloween is by far the best holiday out there in my opinion. The only down fall is you sometimes end up dishing out a fortune for a costume that, let's be honest, usually doesn't have much to it. So my advice to you is to get creative this Halloween and make your own costume! Not only is it much cheaper to make your own threads, but the chances of someone showing up in the same garb as you is slim to none.

Here are some great sites that I have found with ideas for costumes to make yourself:

Here's a glance at some of the costumes I have made in the past:

Mad Hatter & an Incredible

Black Swan & Indiana Jones

Black Cat & Monster

Peacock & Cat Woman

This years costume: a bat. Pictures to come! Embrace your creativity and this grand holiday, now get to brainstorming :]

Brighten up an old bangle.

Turn an old, tired bracelet into something new. Grab a bangle that you are sick of, a fun fabric to cover it with, a hot glue gun and you are ready to create. A warm beverage can always help, too. :]

Cut the fabric into a strip, the wider the strip the less wrapping needed. Hot glue the fabric to the inside of the bangle, and start wrapping.

Wrap the fabric around the bangle until the whole surface is covered.

Add an accent strip of fabric for an extra pop! In this case, I used a piece of burlap.

Ta-da, you now have a brand new bracelet!

Funky, framed earring display.

If you are anything like me, you have far too much jewelry that you know what to do with and honestly I often tend to forget what jewelry I actually have. A good way to showcase all of your jewelry, is by framing it! Not only is it an effective way to display your accessory options, but it's a cute way to liven up a wall.

All you need is a frame (the size and style are your choice), a hot glue gun, and whatever type of material you want to hang your earrings from. I chose to use hemp to hang my dangle earrings from, and a burlap coffee bag for my post earrings. Some other great choices are lace, wire, or a cute patterned fabric. Simply hot glue the string or material to the back of your frame, and you are good to go! That's it. Quick, simple, and cute :]

Hop on board the chalkboard trend.

Lately, it seems like everyone is painting everything in sight with chalkboard paint. Let's be honest the possibilities are endless and it's a cute trend; but unfortunately, not a cheap one. Luckily you can make it yourself for much less!

What you'll need:
  • paint of any kind and whatever color you prefer
  • non- sanded tile grout

Simply mix in 2 tablespoons of the grout to every 1 cup of paint. Stir until there are no more lumps, and you're ready to get to crafting! When I said the possibilities are endless I meant it, you can add this stuff to anything. My personal favorite use of this paint is taking an old frame and converting it into a chalkboard, like such:

Now go get your chalkboard on :]
